What Makes Learning Joyful.

We learn best when we fully immerse ourselves—like diving in a pool of water—in whatever activity we choose to engage in.

We find the activity pleasurable and profound. In this we are provided with mental growth and in turn, these profoundly pleasurable activities promote learning.

Learning becomes joyful for me when I immerse myself in activities that are pleasurable and yet, provide and promote mental growth.

Many of us are taught that learning is linear and void of pleasure.

Many of us are taught that to love learning you must follow a prescribed route, without detours.

Many of us are taught that love and learning are at opposite ends of the spectrum; that they are not complementary.

Many of us are taught that if you choose to teach, to provide guidance to others, that there is only one way to do so.

Nonsense.

It is of the utmost importance that we recognise and nurture all of the varied human intelligences, and all of the combinations of intelligences. We are all so different largely because we all have different combinations of intelligences. If we recognise this, I think we will have at least a better chance of dealing appropriately with the many problems that we face in the world.
